A5 Cabrio extended warranty
My 14 A5 cab is out of warranty but I purchase an extended warranty (not through Audi) for $4,500 that will cover all drive train and a bunch of other stuff but it's not a bumper to bumper. It also does not cover the ragtop nor any trim or upholstery. It also does not cover regular maintenance. This will cover the car for 6 years or 125K (I'm at 38K) probably as long as I would own the car. So far the car has been pretty trouble free with he exception of the headliner coming loose (I can not find any service that will cover the ragtop).
Do you think the extended warranty is necessary or worth it?

That price is very high if it’s not a platinum bumper to bumper coverage. Also, if you already purchased then are you just looking for validation?
FYI, I bought my S5 cab with 8k miles and still under factory warranty, but for peace of mind and longevity coverage I bought the platinum warranty from Audi for ~$1000 if I remember correctly for 7yr/70k. Given the low mileage they treated the car like a brand new car and the price was very reasonable I thought as I plan to keep the car until that warranty is ready to run out.

This is the Ultimate (top of the line) from Interstate AssureGuard. I bought it but have till the end of August to cancel it and get a full refund. You got a good deal. The Audi dealers where I live sells it for much, much more and they use a rebadged a 3rd party insurer. I'm not sure if that's common practice.
My post if to get an opinion on the reliability of the engine and components. I've never had to use any extended warranty so I don't know if it's a sham or worth the money. I can take care of regular maintenance like fluid changes and such but definitely not the big stuff. The list of coverage of the warranty is extensive, but so are the exclusions.

Thanks for the reassurance. I've own 3 VW's growing up (Rabbit, Scirocco, Passat) - I know their tendencies, but that was a long time ago, I also got rid of them before 100K (Passat was at 99K, lol).
I did try to contact Troy at FC-Warranty but he would not insure a car that's out of factory warranty.
