There doesn't seem to be a general forum to post this question in but since a lot of what I am looking at revolves around the A5 platform......
I am looking for an Audi to collect and stick in the garage to maybe drive 2000miles /year.
It seems that outwardly many people that own Audi's tend to pile the miles on them and thus the people that own very low mileage cars seem to get proportionally a much higher price.
What initially turned me on to this idea is when I sold my 2011 A3 sportback with a 6 speed manual in it. When I sold it at the dealership I got almost 3K more than any other offers I had (yes I keep all my cars in spotless condition).So here is the criteria......a 2012-2017 Audi with less than 40,000 miles and unmodified. Price under $32K. Cars I have seen in this range are as follows.

2012 S5 Coupe with 6 speed manual and 4.2 liter motor.....I'm and old v8 guy and like this concept.
2013 and up S5 Couple....3.0T
2013 and up S4 with possible 6 speed manual
2012 Audi TTS.....Solar Orange maybe?
2015 S3

If I wanted to cheap out.....I could buy a later model TT, A4 (manual) or A5 manual....and stage 1 chip it..........most of these cars fit well within that budget because of the high production numbers.

My plan is to keep the car about 20 years, maintain it well and have less than 75K miles on it.

I'd like to get some advice from the collectors out there....I'm really stuggling to find info on collecting a car like this.

I'd spend $10K more and get an RS5, without question. Future collectible. You could find a 2013 in that price range.

I don't think you'll find an R8 v10 convertible anywhere close to $32K unless it's been in an accident and is missing half the car.

I don't really see any of these as being collectibles and it sounds to me like you're going to spend $32K just to have a car worth $8K in 20 years, but to each his own, so here goes.

The RS models are the only ones that probably have any collectible potential. If you can't swing / find an RS, then I would go for a V8/6spd S5. Personal opinion, regardless of what "performance" package it has, down the road when someone is buying a collector car (from you) the more doors it has the less money it brings. Obviously the more options the better and I'm going to go out on a limb and say any color other than the usual black / silver / white.

I am a big classic car guy and I love speculating on stuff so in your price range, if you actually want a collectible car that will appreciate check out the following. FYI I loathe American cars, but not gonna lie, most of the "good" cars have been priced out of the speculator market now so the Yank crap is on the rise. That and the fact that there are going to be tons of fantastic Euro cars that once the warranty expires, people are terrified to own them because of the potential maintenance pitfalls. V12 M-Bs immediately come to mind.

- 1st gen Dodge Viper. You can get a damn nice tailpipe one for $32K, or a slightly scruffier very early one with sidepipes and sit on it and watch the money pile up in way less than 20 years.
- Buick Grand Nationals
- Lancia Fulvia (as much as I hate to get the word out about these phenomenal little cars, because I want one so bad)
- Porsche Cayman S
- Lancia Delta Integrale
- Jag XkR or F-Type (but you're going to get a low-spec F-Type for $32K)
- Any BMW M (I personally think M6s are WAY underpriced right now, but then there's that whole maintenance cost thing I mention above on that V10 motor). I don't personally think they are any better car than the Audis but the fanboi wallets just ejaculate for them, so there's that.

Or buy the Audi and just drive it and enjoy it.
