Default The BMW 650i sunroof only tilts. A lot of you may not agree, but I like

to compare my S5 to the 6 series.

Default Don't consider myself an idiot

Many factors go into the decision making process, some more important than others.
I use my sunroof all the time, unless it's raining or really cold.
Not having a sunroof that opens is a problem for me. Is it a deal breaker, not sure yet since I'm not real impressed with the S5's competition (MB CLK, BMW, etc.).
I'll probably get the S5 but I wish the sunroof slid open.

Default You're completely right. Sunroofs and cupholders...

are so far down the list of what makes a car great. How could it possibly be a "deal breaker" for some? so funny.

Default It can be a factor, in as much as it's something you care about or don't care about, but for it to

be a "deal-breaker" (i.e. decision-maker) is dumb.

Default Well I for 1 think it's a STUPID idea on Audi's part to have a sports coupe with no open sunroof

And I personally love to drive with my sunroof fully open on beautiful days. As a matter of fact, everytime my wife and I look for a new car, it ALWAYS has to have a sunroof and leather. So this is a considerable deal breaker for some people (and not just idiots). You're spending your money, so you shouldn't have to conform to the car - The car should meet your needs. The A5 is my favorite Audi to date, but the sunroof thing is just a big screw-up and a let down to me. It would definitely push me to an A4 or an S4 (B8 that is). Not a BMW though.

Default showstopper for me...

i keep my roof open almost all the time on my m5 and probably won't buy a car without a real sunroof. even the new m3 has the option of a carbon fixed roof or a sunroof, hopefully audi ends up in the same place.

Default laugh all you want....

but it's an important feature for me, and almost all luxury cars have them these days...including the new m3 as a no cost option.

Default It's an engineering impossibility for the 5 to have an opening sunroof, unless you want a

stow-away glass roof ala the 911 Targa. From Porsche, this option adds $7k to the base car, which would make the S5 a $60k+ car that almost no one would buy.

Alternately, the S5 could have a teenie-tiny fully-opening moonroof, but that'd just look silly.

Default There are many reasons NOT to buy an A5/S5. But lack of sliding moonroof?

Everbody should evaluate their purchases to meet their needs.

That said, I would laugh at someone who said "I love everything about the S5 and I really want one but the moonroof doesn't slide so I'm going to buy a (insert automanufaturer of your choice) instead."

So, yeah... If that's you then I'd laugh.
