Hi All:

New to the forum. I've searched on this topic and didn't find anything so apologies if this has been dealt with. Just moved from an S5 Cabriolet to an RS5 Cabriolet 2014.

I've noticed that when idle after a trip I here a faint ticking / knocking noise from the car that speeds up dissipates then comes back slower then speeds up again. Audi in Newcastle have checked it over and ran diagnostics and state they cant hear it but I can and it's annoying. Not sure if it's something that may be loose and just vibrating. The car checks out with no issues, just wondering if this is normal?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the purge valve doing its thing..

These engines have direct injection into the cylinders which is under high pressure so one can hear the injectors some.

The other thing could be hydraulic lifters - and that comes from dirty oil.

I suspect it is just the fuel injectors.
