Default Dsg oil change

I have a 2013 s5 with 55000 miles. I bought the car at 40000 miles. The pevious owner was volkvagen fleet financial. It appears from audi s service records that the dsg oil has never been changed. The car runs fine with no faults. The technican at Audi recommended I don't change the oil as it's so far pasts it's change interval the gearbox gets used to running on thinner oil and a fault might occur if the oil is replaced. This advice seems wrong to me. How can not changing the oil at all be better?. Any advice on whether I should change or not?

I believe the DSG change interval is 35K and then every 40K afterwards. I don't see why a drain-and-fill would be bad. You should also change the filter too. Just don't "flush" the transmission like some shops would try to sell you.

After the fluid change, make sure you set the correct fluid level and reset the transmission with VCDS/VAG-COM. The computer will adapt to the new oil if you do that.

Yeah that's pretty much crazy talk Mark. Ask him to put that in writing and have it notarized. That way when your mechatronic goes south, you have some legal recourse via the dealership.

There should be two filters on your car, one is an external cooler circuit filter and one is internal, requiring the removal of the ATF pan.
More writeup here if you're interested in a DIY and what's involved (check what the correct fluids are for the S5): https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...r-differential)
