Default Headlight washers on S5

Is there a way to by-pass these? The manual says when you engage the windshield washers, the headlight washers will also engage sometimes. I think they come on if you're holding the windshield washers for more than 2 seconds or if you're washing your windshields for the first time over xxx days.

I'd like this to be more user defined. They tend to make a bit of a mess they way the squirt the fluid around when I only wanted a quick windshield misting.

headlight washers will not engage unless headlights are on or you hold the washer down for several seconds.

There's also a feature that engages them on once every some many days or after so many uses, (or something to this extent), regardless of lights being on or off. It happened yesterday mid-day, sunny, so no lights were on. I just gently pulled the washer lever to get a quick mist to windshield and the headlamp washers engaged, speading fluid all over the front of the car.

I recall reading it from the manual, but don't have it at hand right now. Besides, I don't want them to come on everytime the lights are on and I wash my windshield if I can adjust that. I wonder if this is one of those Vag-Com modifications.

I hate to highjack the thread a bit (but I will !)....when you spray your windshield, does it spray in 3 streams on each side, or is it more of a "fan" shape? Mine does 3 streams on each side that barely hit the windshield...

Yeah, mine does the three streams too. I actually dislike the windshield washers more than the headlight washers. Because of where they are placed (I guess Audi didn't want to interrupt the flow of the hood, where I have always seen washers in the past), they end up spraying everything from the windshield back to the trunk.

Is there a way to manually open the headlight washer doors? I think I had a problem with the washer nozzle freezing and need to check it out.

That's exactly what they do and makes a mess of the back window. Only way I found to solve that is to use the washers when moving at 30-35 mph. Air movement keeps the washer streams on the front window only.

Mine were actually spraying over the top of my car until I had them adjust the sprayers during my 15k service.

Stick a pin about 1/4" in each one and re-aim to your liking. They're on ball-like swivel mounts.
