Help please! Rearview mirror fell off! Just bought CPO A5 5 months ago
Hey guys just bought A5 09 5 months ago Certified preowned...my rearview mirror just fell off and i took it to my local audi (not where i originally purchased it) and they said i may need a new windsheild because all of the mechanisms came off the glass. Then they said take it to an auto glass place.(audi was no help btw). Just went to safelite and they said no because the mirror is too heavy(rainsensor/auto dimming mirror) what can i do because i feel audi should be responsible considering i just bought it and it was the lack of good glue thats causinh me to have to get a new windsheild(seems to be a gray area im stuck in) anyone with ideas or similiar exprience PLEASE HELPPP!!! Lol

How many miles does your car have -- if it's under 50K (and the car is less than 4 yrs in service) you would still be under the factory warranty - not the CPO yet, I would think it would be covered.
Definitely call the dealer you bought it from

OP, if you are getting the run-around, contact Audi directly and explain the situation. I would think that if a new windshield was required, the Audi service shop would make the arrangements.

There's now a transparent Gorilla glue. This is the toughest glue ever made on this earth and sticks anything from glass, wood, metal, plastic .. you name it.
A thin metal linking my lawn mowers accelerator almost snapped - I used this glue, and saved me from buying another mower.
If you don't want to buy another windshield, go buy a transparent gorilla glue.
You do have to be very careful installing it, because Gorilla glue expands a bit. Use it sparingly. Test it first on another object before sticking it on your rear view mirror. Also test curing time. Maybe you have to hold your rear-view mirror in place for more than 30 minutes while you let the glue work. Your hand may get tired, but it might be worth it.

Hey guys! Thanks for the help. I called the dealer i originally bought it from and explained the situation and the service manager said he will take care of everything, which he did. They did not need to replace the windsheild, they used some sort of adhesive. Thanks again and enjoy your cars!
