Default One unexpected advantage of the S-line package...

...is the fact that alcantara has a very low heat conductivity. This means that alcantara seats do not get nearly as cold in the winter or hot in the summer as their leather (and let alone vinyl) counterparts. With all the freezing that we've been having here lately, I'm really loving my alcantara interior.

Very true. This is exactly why I choose the Alcantara for my S5. Gets awful hot here in Florida..... plus the Alcantara looks so damn sport and sexy!

Wouldn't you want higher heat conductivity in FL?

Although the alcantara interior does look pretty nice. After a couple of year of wear and tear it does start to look a little worn down. My buddy had his A5 since it first came out and it look really worn down now. Just a little food for thought

The alcantara wasn't part of the S-Line package in the US in 2008 -- became avail in 2009...I have 24K miles on mine and it still looks brand new...better than the leather actually....

A definite plus...wish I chose this with my previous Audi. And the concerns about cleaning it have yet to be realized...it's been really easy to keep it in great condition - looks like I just bought the car (but it's been a year and a half already).

gfunk808,

For the most part, simple vacuuming. The built-in garage vac with hose/attachments works wonders. See attachment manufacturer recommendations for more details.

Cheers

Basically all you can do is dab with water. I never eat/drink in my vehicle and still this was a concern for me in considering Alcantara (and therefore opted for 'even looks better with age' leather).
