How much for the 55K miles service (2013 S5)
I was wondering how much did your 55K miles service cost, and whether the purchase of the Audi Care (or what they call it) is worth instead of paying for the service.
One of the options is servicing the car in an external euro-mechanic (there are a few in the DFW area with pretty good reputation), which will probably be cheaper. So I'd like to hear your opinion, taking also this point into consideration.

Audi Care Select (a 2 service plan) MAY be worth buying for your 55K & 65K services. If you have a 2.0l it is usually less expensive to pay as you go. If you have a 3.0l, it is more cost effective to buy the 2 service plan.

So the Audi Care (not Select, my car is not CPO) costs $849 (https://www.audiusa.com/myaudi/servi...audi-audi-care), and includes the 55k & 65k services.
My question is: do any of you guys know how much these services cost (approximately), so that I can somehow derive the amount of money I'm saving by buying the Audi Care plan?

Each dealer sets the price for these services. I would suggest that you call and get quotes from your local Audi dealerships.
Audi Care Select is not for CPO cares exclusively. It is for any Audi newer than 2009.
Benefits of Audi Care Select
Audi Care Select may be purchased for MY 2009 and newer Audi vehicles sold or leased in the U.S. that meet certain age and mileage parameters. Depending on the number of packages purchased, it can provide prepaid scheduled maintenance services from 35,000 through 85,000 miles (or 40,000 through 90,000 miles for MY 2017 and newer models),1 every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first. Audi Care Select is an excellent way to help keep your Audi performing at its best.
Audi Care Select packages

Package 4 65k & 75k services4 50,000 miles minimum

PDF below of what they actually perform for 55K/65K. A couple oil changes, spark plugs (55K), and lots of of "inspecting". Only you can decide if it's worth $849.

If you can change 6 spark plugs and change the oil on your own, then it's definitely not worthwhile money-wise. The car is out-of-warranty anyway, so it doesn't matter if you brought it to the dealer to do the oil change and spark plug change.
Genuine VW/Audi oil filter is about $10+ online
Mobil 1 0w-40 oil that is VW-certified is only about $20 at Walmart
NGK spark plugs are about $15/each, so about $90 for all six
Air filter is about $20
Cabin filter is about $20
I recommend the following tools:
1. Torque wrench to make sure you don't over or under-tighten the spark plugs
2. Oil extractor to suck the oil from the dip stick tube (no need to craw under the car*)
3. Oil filter wrench to spin off the filter from the TOP of the engine
I have done this quite a few times, so it takes me about 30 min to an hour to do everything. Most of that time is just waiting for the oil extractor to suck out the oil. Actual hands-on time is about 10 minutes tops.

OK, in case anyone can't figure out that the 6-cylinder of the S5 would require two more spark plugs, here is my updated statement:
"If you can change SIX spark plugs and change the oil on your own, then it's definitely not worthwhile money-wise."
Also, if anyone has an 8-cylinder engine, please be advised that you would need to change EIGHT spark plugs.
In conclusion, regardless of how many spark plugs you have, it is my opinion that it is not worthwhile to pay Audi to change your spark plugs and motor oil. You can do everything yourself for a lot less money, or you can pay a decent mechanic and still save a ton of money.

haha.
Well it looks like most probably the Audi Care is not worth the money if you can find your way around the engine bay. I was closer (in terms of decision making) to not to buy it, and now I'm certain of it. Thanks guys.
