Default I'm Thinking This Tire Is Not Salvageable

Ran over something on my way to work this morning that I couldn't avoid. Got low tire warning about 10 minutes later, loud pop about 5 minutes later. Made it to work, had donut spare installed.

It appears this tire cannot be repaired.

My choices are extremely limited due to tire size, plus have to replace two since AWD. The OEM tire is about $400, so I think I'm better off buying four Michelin Pilot Sport 4S from Costco at less than $300 each.

Can't complain too much - first flat tire since 1996!

as long as the sidewall (inside and out) are not damaged, it looks perfectly repairable to me. As long as the hole is not in the sidewall, which it clearly isn't it should repair just fine-assuming no sidewall damage from driving on it while flat!

As stated above, it's a tear. And I believe I drove on the flat for at least 5 miles, as I had no way of knowing if it was flat. My guess is the very low profile acted like a run flat, as I had no handling indications the tire was flat. I see no damage to the wheel.

I ordered the Michelin's from Costco, got the $70 rebate, plus get 2% back on my Costco card and 2.5% on my Visa. Also nice that Costco includes road hazard at no charge.

Your TPMS did not go off? I have had two flats from very small tears and it only took moments for the TPMS to go and not long for all the air (there is not much in there)

My TPMS did go off, but on I-25 with nowhere to pull over. I continued on for at least 10 miles. I see no damage to wheel, indicating the low profile tire almost acted like a run flat. I felt no handling difference to indicate complete air pressure loss.

FWIW I ordered 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S from Costco last night.
