The Bentley GT is an A8 or VW Phaeton in lingerie, but it is VERY sexy lingerie :-)

Eheh... Bryce:
"Living in Zurich has its advantages"
Same here :-)
I just spent the WE in the Geneva region, one day at the salon, one day skiing...
To be honest, I was kinda disappointed at the pictures of the A5, conservative shapes for the front facia, thick C-pillar, little if any Nuvolari genes in the design, etc...
But after seeing it: the A5 and S5 look fabulous in the metal. The proportions, the C-pillar, the lights, everything makes sense when you see it.
The car definitely has presence. Damn, it stole the crowd from the R8, sitting 10 meters away.
Some impressions:
I did not notice the size of the rear-view mirrors but the sun-roof was disabled in both cars on display. I was really puzzled cos' the thing is really huge... one was in the tilted position.
Cabin:
Gorgeous dahboard and materials. I am not so sure about having put the CD-changer loader in the center there, and moving the MMI interface between the console and the armrest depending on that option...
Rear seats:
I am 6' tall. I fit in the back but that's a tight fit, headroom wise.
Metal:
the front of the car is soooo aggressive but in a subdued way, nothing like what BMW is doing with its 3 and M3 concepts for examples.. hum hum...
The rear, same thing. The lights are very very classy. I don't know if anyone also noticed it: for me, they are somewhat similar to the ones of the new Maserati coupe (which was a disappointment btw...) but their design works better in the A5.
New platform:
Yep the engine has moved back. It's not a beemer yet but the engine is definitely sitting more between the front wheels than in front of them.
It is really striking when you compared the A5, hood open, and say a S6, which was not far away.
I want to test-drive one!
Engine/Trans.
Well.... the surprise is the 3.0TDI, which is the fastest "A" variant, yep faster than the 3.2 FSI.
Big disappointment: No DSG... but the helpful hostess mentioned "new variants" coming at the end of the year.
Bryce, what do you think?
Best,
Phil

As "Audi" as side indicators in the mirrors can be, I'm still getting used to them being there vs...
the old style ones on the side of the car. They do look good to me on this car.
