Just test drove the a5 for the hell of it...
disappointed. My 02 3.0 a4 was more fun to drive. 07 3.2 A3 is way more fun to drive. This is what i call all show and no go car. What made it worst was the 50K price tag before taxes..
i test drove a 6speed. I felt the initial kick witht teh throttle but nothing after that. I had to downshift just to feel the pull. Maybe i'm jsut spoiled with the 335. If the a5 was fast as my a3, i would definate recommend the a5 to other friends but its jsut not.
I say get the S5 or jsut go home.

Yea, I'm a little stumped with Audi too
Nice interiors aside, they just aren't giving their cars enough performance these days to warrant the prices they are asking.
Flame away but its true, Audi is losing to the competition because of its lackluster performance in comparison to competitors.

Strongly disagree
The A5 has peak torque available from 3-5K, something both my 06 and 03 A4 6 cyl 6 speeds did not. I'm still in the break-in period (trying very hard to keep it under 4K), but my A5 feels like much more fun, especially in the curves. Yesterday it took a particular curve on Kelly drive here in Philly that I've tried numerous times before without the ESP light coming on. BTW the sticker (no tech package) was approx 45K, I did very well with my dealer (about 5% off).

i know i don't live in that 3-5K range. I do when i drive my girlfriend rsx though.
have to rev the hell out of it to go anywhere.
The one i drove was loaded with sline. 49.5K
why no tech package man.

3.2 is a nice engine, but for a 335 to get 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, i.e. same punch as a cayenne turbo..
that just blows the audi's performance away. But some people wouldnt mind the loss of power over a luxurious interior, so i guess its only 80 percent about power to most people.

A5 does not = 335. It's more like A5=328, S5=335, RS5=M3
S5 0-60 4.9s according the website.
335i (coupe) 0-60 5.3s according to website
price difference is $6k (equally configured).
(although I've seen faster for both in the mags)

I don't either, but it's nice to have max torque available for that wide a range. BTW I drive 28K a year so an S5 is out of the question gas wise. Did'nt get the tech package because I've had adaptive lights on my 06, they were no big deal, would never use the backup camera, I prefer to look, and I've don't mind using the key fob.

i rode in an A5 3.2 manual and I concur with your writeup. Very disappointed in the 3.2 which was..
suppose to have 10 more HP than the 3.2 in the B7. Having riden in B6 3.0 6-speeds as well I agree that they are more responsive than the 3.2 in the A5.
