Default Looking to purchase an S5

Hello everyone

As the title states, I'm looking to purchase a 2014-15 S5 preferably certified, and I'd like to know what things to watch out for.

I recently returned a BMW 550i lease, and would like to switch to Audi and see how they are. I've always liked the look of the S5, but they don't lease well, so I decided to look for a CPO one to buy.

I know someone will jump in and say to use the search feature, but I would just like to know what are some of the common things that usually go wrong on these cars? What should I be on the look out for while shopping around for one? Thanks in advance!

I recently purchased a '15 S5 (loaded to the gills) and it came with the balance of the factory warranty and a pre-paid Audi Care maintenance plan. After 5 months of use I'm very happy with the rig... no issues save a strange brake squeal that occurs ONLY AFTER the car has been sitting for 2-3 hours AFTER initial drive of the day. The dealer says that this "might be covered by a TSB which would swap out the brake pads" but I'll have to leave the rig overnight (or at least for 2-3 hours) for them to try and replicate so they can apply the TSB. Since the closest dealer is an hour away, I'm going to live with the squeal until the 35K scheduled service. Good luck with the hunt!

I, too, just purchased a CPO 2015 manual S5 (came from an A6, by the way). So far, I'm really enjoying it. I experience the same brake squeal that OLYS5 experiences: typically happens as I'm backing out of my driveway in the morning. I think it's a common Audi thing: My A6 used to do it, and my neighbor bought a Q7 earlier in the spring and it still squeals in the AM.

Other than that, no issues yet. I bet some more experienced members can give more insight into what to watch out for when buying a used S5; CPO with Audi care is probably a good idea I would think.

I don't have a '14/ '15 S5, but I have an earlier release '13 from the summer of 2012. I'd look out for an S5 CPO with Audicare. As you approach your 35K service, the dual clutch/ s-tronic tranny will need servicing, which is pricey. Disregard if getting the 6sp MT.
I've only had to replace my battery in the 5+ years of ownership.
Never had brake issues, however, I did replace all 4 rotors with slotted ones, early in ownership, primarily for looks.
Make sure the sunshade is working. Mine went bad and I think they're pretty flimsy and pricey to repair. Other than that, this B8.5 S5 is a solid powertrain.
