Default MMI 3G+ - Audi Connect Tether issue

God day,
I am working through trying to get the TEther/ google maps working for my 2014 S5 3G+, running 726 w/ most recent maps.
Does the Audi connect symbol appear in the menu even though there is no data connection? I figured it would just greyed out?
I dont have the audi connect symbol at the top of the Menu.
I have the google symbol on the bottom right, and I can select Google Earth from the nav option, but it doesnt work.
I have poor cell reception where I was attempting to do this, but figured I would still see the icon for audi connect?

Might have found the issue....I noticed that my USB to Ethernet doesn't light up when connected to the MMI to USB cable. I think the MMI to USB may just be providing power, not full data communication...The USB to Ethernet adapter works when I run it to my laptop.
Would still like to know if I should have the audi connect symbol in my menu or not when no internet is present.

well...not the MMI-USB cable. I tested with a USB flashdrive and works fine. Ended up I needed to update the firmware. Updated to the latest and the audi connect symbol shows up.
Same issue however. The trendnet usb-ethernet adapter doesn't light up when connected to the car. Can anyone confirm that theirs lights up? It seems that the car just doesnt link up with the router. I know the router works as its working with my laptop. I have it set to 192.168.0.1 same as what i changed in the run.sh file. When i read the IP settings in the green menu I see the resolve.conf took the 192.168.0.1 change. However when i scroll down a few lines i see 192.168.1.10/24 link#5 and then next 2 lines are 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.110 for the UHL ?? Sound right?

Appears my USB to Ethernet is not being detected. Got a different one on order based on the chipsets I read it needed. I'll post any updates on the next couple days when it arrives.
I was trying to use a trendnet. Some have said it works, but I think that may have been earlier versions only.
