New Audi owner . 351,000 mile A5
Hello all. I am a new owner of a 2009 audi A5 3.2. The car was previously owned by a sales rep and was driven as a highway car across the country its entire life. It currently has 351,051 miles and is a dream to drive. All of the maintenance had been done at the dealer. The car has a few rock chips on the front hood and bumper. The leather interior looks like it is brand new still. If you look at and drive the car it would be hard to tell it had 100,000 miles on it. I am looking for any pointers on what to keep an eye on for a high mileage Audi as well as any advice on the A5 3,2 itself? The only thing i would like to do to the car is an aftermarket exhaust and drop a K & N filter in it. This is a weekend/fun car to drive and will not be a daily driver for me. I just replaced alot of the front end suspension. as well as all the plugs and 2 coils. The car has new pirrele p zero tires as well.

All I have to say is holy sh*t on the mileage. Can't offer advice on the engine but suspension wise, front bushings tend to wear faster than the rears. The top shock mounts can wear too along with engine mounts. Sounds like you probably did the bushings and dampers? The top mounts are like a rubber hat that sits in between the cast aluminum bracket and the underside of the wheel well. They can wear along with the rubber coil spring isolators. All that is easily to replace while you're refreshing the shocks so hopefully you did that. I'd see if you can get a list of what was done by the dealer already as well.

Sounds like classic high mileage vehicle
Good for you. Just drive it. Anything you do at this point will just get you in really deep $$. Change oil synthetic if possible, keep viscosity up to 30 minimum. Change coolant, maintain transmission oil level but don’t flush it (unless you know the trans has been regularly serviced don’t mess with it now!) Watch the front CVJ boots and wheel bearings. Upper chain tensioners watch and listen for noises or inspect but don’t pre-emptively do anything other than tires and brakes. Major engine work...just let it go. What did you pay for this 350k car, BTW? We let our 2000A6 V8 go for $1K 4 years ago leasing an A5 and just leased another A5 fastback. I doubt I’ll ever own another car per se.

I thought about it and decided not to do anything to the car and to just enjoy it the way it is. I replaced all of that suspension work plus a few of the the aluminum parts. I have $2,000 in the car with all the work done to the car. I will attach a few more pics of the car.

This is most encouraging to see/hear. I specifically chose the 3.2L/Tiptronic engine based on my extreme satisfaction for 9 years with my 2000 A4 2.8L/Tiptronic. It had zero engine issues for the 9 years I owned it. Never needed to replace one coilpack and only replaced the plugs once.
Like on my A4, I again opted to use a K&N filter on my A5. I clean/re-oil it twice a year.
If you're looking for a little more emphatic exhaust note, you don't have to spend a lot on an after market system.
The 3.2L exhaust uses the same muffler layout as the S5 but is only twin tipped and not quad tipped like the S5. However, the inside port of each muffler is capped off whereas the S5 utilizes both. I cut off that cap and installed 4x Yonaka muffler tips. I now have the look (quad tips) as the S5 and very nearly the same exhaust note. All this for well under $200 for parts and labour.

If you have no record of it being done, you should look into the possibility of getting a carbon cleaning done. Only because of the high mileage. Even though long distance highway driving is the best way to stave off carbon build-up, it is nonetheless an inevitable occurance with all direct injected engines, 3.2L included.

I'm going to assume you're new to Audi's. As such, this should be a must for all first time Audi owners.
You need the Pro version.
