Oil Consumption A5 2008 3.2 - Smoke/Oil Issues
Hello, I wondered if I could get some advice (before I go to the garage). I have a 2008 3.2 A5. And I would like to introduce myself a proud A5 owner, I love the car!
but....its very smokey and uses what I believe to be a lot of oil from full to empty, around 1500 to 2000 miles. There is no smoke on start up, but quite smokey when engine is warm and only idle, not too noticeable in warmer weather.
However coolant is fine, and no loss there, so presuming HG is not an issue.
Any ideas? Am I in trouble? Here is a link to a video on idle... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcLtb...ature=youtu.be
Thank you, and some pics!

1. Get a regular oil dipstick installed and stop relying on the MMI oil level display.
2. The MMI oil level display is for 1 (one) litre of oil and not the whole sump.
3. Your MMI display pic shows you're down approximately 1/4 of a litre of oil. If that's what you're seeing after about 1500 to 2000 miles then you're not even close to excessively burning/consuming oil. You're actually on par with normal consumption.
4. Contrary to what Collin has mentioned, the 2008 3.2L engine is one of the most reliable, most bullet-proof and least oil consuming engines Audi has made in the last 15 years. FWIW, my 2008 A5 3.2L engine will consume about 3/4 litre of oil between oil changes which is every 6k to 7k kms (4k to 4.5k miles).

I’ve owned two 4.2,Neither used oil between 6-10k mile oil changes in over 200k Miles, . Last 2.0 turbo used zero oil between 10k oil changes, leased car, traded for 2018 A5, it’s nt using oil again at 10k oil changes. Leased A3 2.0, again no oil consumption in 5k+ miles.
