the only spoiler I would ever consider is that motorized spoiler in the spy shots of the RS5.
As for the integrated into the trunk lid spoiler, the S-line A5's and S5 both have it. |

SPOILER: –noun 1. a person or thing that spoils.
2. a person or thing who robs or ravages; despoiler; plunderer . |
spoiler |ˈspoilər|
noun 1 a person or thing that spoils. • (esp. in a political context) a person who obstructs or prevents an opponent's success while having no chance of winning a contest themselves. • an electronic device for preventing unauthorized copying of sound recordings by means of a disruptive signal inaudible on the original. 2 a flap on an aircraft or glider that can be projected from the surface of a wing in order to create drag and so reduce speed. • a similar device on a motor vehicle intended to prevent it from being lifted off the road when traveling at very high speeds. |
...you did get my joke, right Josh? Assume you were agreeing that in the case of the A/S5, only one definition should apply.
|
Sorry, Steve. I did get it but I also think that at times a spoiler can look good on a car (you also got me curious as to the full actual definition of the word). Though I hate the wing Audi makes for the A5.
Am I right in assuming the S5 has a lip on the trunk that the A5 lacks? I know my S8 has a lip that the A8L lacks. I rather like that. It's very subdued and tasteful. Kind of like the rubber lip that I had on a 1983 SAAB 900S many moons ago. That looked good. But the boy racer look of an actual wing doesn't appeal to me on a road car. |
correct the standard A5 does not have the same lip as the S5 on the trunk.
The A5 S-line does have the same lip however. |
here are some snap shots.

I haven't seen pics from anyone who added a rear spoiler. What are your opinions on whether it adds or detracts from the a5/s5 appearance?
