I've heard your exhaust on a S5 and it sounded good, but i don't understand why your systems are so pricey since they are not a full cat back, but just mufflers.

gd10: REMUS USA Rep' here. Well, unlike a few exhaust companies out there, REMUS' main sales office, as well as their manufacturing are all done under one roof, in Austria. They don't sell from an expensive country, and manufacture in a cheap country. Also, to get consistent sound from the different styles they sell, a lot of R & D engineering needs to take place. They have an 'audio correct' sound dyno test cell that can measure digitally the exhaust sound next to the car, drive by, behind the car, and in every seat in the cabin. The O.E.M.'s they build for wanted all of this info. digitally, and this was the only way to accomplish this. "REMUS Sound" more than any other, is designed in, and not a "happy accident" as it can be with some other exhaust companies. From the size (and space) for the cannister, the number, size and shape of the holes in the perforated resonator tubes, the length of the perforations, the thickness of stainless steel steel wool and the density of the s/s screens that keep the heat off of the fiberglass, to the density of the fiberglass itself, and the tension placed on it by the outer woven sheet, all of this had to be engineered and discovered through years of R & D. REMUS knows how easy it is to remove a front resonator and replace it with a piece of straight tubing, so they choose to sell axle back splice on systems for many Audis. This way, a customer can decide if he/she likes the sound and performance of just the muffler replacements, or, if someone wants more sound, a resonator delete can be done. This highly successful formula has kept REMUS as the largest O.E.M. and aftermarket mfr. of Sport Exhausts for a long time. But none of the above can be done that inexpensively, while keeping it all in a country as expensive as Austria is. However, if you look at the complete line, REMUS' pricing is almost always the most cost effective. In so many categories, we are the ones the other exhaust companies aim at for pricing, and due to REMUS' automation, economies of scale - among other things - our competitors pricing is usually higher. In fact in the last 2010 price list we've received from REMUS AT, Audi pricing actually went down considerably from the '08 price list. It still may not be "cheap" but what good product is, that you'd want to put on YOUR German performance car...?

thanks for the explanation, so your exhausts are only about sound and not additional power.

gd10: As to the power increases with REMUS Sport Exhausts. We have actual before and after REMUS Audio Dyno Test Cell results on numerous European performance cars with our systems mounted. Generally speaking, we typically see anywhere from 2 - 10% increases, often in the mid-range rather than peak power. In our 2008 & 2010 print catalogs, an Audi A5 diesel sees a 7 - 8 H.P increase in the mid range, and a 6 H.P. peak boost. A VW GTI w/ a 2.0L Turbo, a very close engine configuration as many Audis, sees a very substantial boost in mid range power, from 3000 - 5500 R.P.M. the car makes between 14 - 17 H.P. more, and at peak, it makes 7 extra H.P. over stock. In so many others, such as BMW's newest M3, we see a 10 H.P. peak increase, on a BMW X6, we see a 20 H.P. peak increase, and on and on. It would be surprising if a REMUS Sport Exhaust didn't increase power and torque, when they spend so much time and energy in
R & D, engineering the proper flow and reduced back pressures associated with their 'Signature Lines' the "Sports Label" and the "U.S. Sound / Race" systems we are importing to No. America. If you'd like more info' feel free to PM me here at REMUS USA. Thanks.
