Default RS5 Turnaround?

Anyone who has ordered and received their RS5 recently...how long did it take for your order to start production/get delivered?

Placed my order on 1/13/14 and the car still hasn't started production, getting a little concerned!

Why are getting concerned? Anxious I can understand, but not "concerned." I can't speak to the typical wait for current RS5 production, but in my experience of ordering 3 Audis from the factory the wait has ranged from three months all the way up to ten months. The length of time before prodction is typically a function of your dealer's allocation for production spots in the factory queue - sometimes the dealer can redirect a slot previosly reserved for a car for his inventory over to you, thus lessening the wait. Your salesman ought to be able to give you some idea as to the production schedule.

I guess the word "concerned" came up because the feedback I've received from the dealer hasn't really addressed my specific allocation questions nor have they been able to give me a firm idea of production schedule saying its "out of their hands" and just depends when Germany picks it up. With a car like this that wasn't the answer I was looking for from them.

I know we're closing in on the end of 2014 model year productions with some uncertainty from what I've read as to whether or not there will be a 2015 RS5 so that's another reason for the concern.

That's what happened to me with a ten month wait ordering my S5. I ordered it in January 2008 as an '08 model, and the dealer said it would take about 4 months. But with production delays it got pushed into the next model year, and I actually didn't get the car until November 2008 as an '09 model. And all that time there was virtually no status information that my dealer could get for me until it was actually in production. That was the year they had a huge hail storm at the port in Germany, damaging hundreds of cars that all had to be brought back to the factory for repair - luckily my car wasn't at the port yet when this happened, but they made the decision to repair those cars as a priority over shipping newer production, so it really put a delay in the order interval.

Well, it's been over a year for me and I'm sure the fact that I did European Delivery factored into the production schedule, but I ordered mine at the beginning of Dec '12. About a month later the status showed 'released to manufacturer', but production didn't start until mid March, so about three months from order to production.

The big question is does your dealer actually have an allocation? Once the order has been accepted by the factory, it's just a matter of their production schedule and inventory. From time to time, they run out of stuff and the production gets rescheduled. There is no telling until the car actually enters production.

That's pretty quick, 4 months. I've been told 3-4 months but was also told when I signed that it should get picked up for production pretty much immediately which it hasn't been so that was my cause for concern, guess the waiting game will continue!

Good to hear.

Ordered mine 2nd half of January last year (2013), production was first April, then May, and finally begin of June. Becase I have sme Audi Exclusive options, this took 4-6 weeks more than "normal" (Dealer said).

For RS models they have extra quality control, so then it took another 3-4 weeks to get the car delivered.

My understanding is that there is supply constraints on the key powertrain components which means production runs might be a little less frequent on the likes of the B8 RS4/RS5.
