S mode on stock audi s5

what does the S mode under D for drive do for the car? I'm assuming that is the stock sport differential.

S mode red lines every gear, keeps your transmission in a lower gear for more torqy feel. Nothing to do with Sports Diff

Aren't red lining every gear and keeps your trans in a lower gear contradictory statements?

To the OP, I'm not an expert as I have an S4 with 6MT, but i believe the sports mode would raise your shift points although it would not red line every gear.

Yep,
all the S mode does is raise your shift points without red lining...

In layman's term - it makes your car drive faster and more aggressively.
