S5 buying advice
Hi newbie here I’d like some advice regarding the imminent purchase of an S5.
My main concern is with high and I mean high mileage. I’m currently interested in an immaculate 2008 S5 it has a full main dealer service history which I have verified, ie stamps in service book with Audi’s records although they can’t give me more details due to Data protection. Overall condition I’d say is 2 out 5 with 1 being the best. Seats are like new and very little wear on the controls with the only issue for me being mileage it’s got 157,000 miles on the clock. It’s got the semi auto box btw and had the one owner till last year. What are your thoughts worth a punt are these cars solid. And test it’s cheap about £1k below market value and my other option is a 88k BMW 650i
thank you in advance.

The S5 is a really solid vehicle. I’ve a friend who had a 2008 until about 75000 miles. My 2015 is only at 32000 miles but neither of us ever had any significant problems. At that high mileage I would have the suspension inspected for any worn links or bushings. I would also watch the engines low rpm smoothness and throttle response. Carbon fouling on intake valves can occur in these ( the 4.2 in the earlier S5s) engines. And of course have a full diagnostic scan done. A lot depends of the previous owners attention to service and willingness to spend money on the vehicle. Do the tires match and are they from a major manufacturer? Are the brake pads and rotors in good condition? These are important indicators of how a vehicle was maintained.
