My dealer told me that they had no issues of carbon build-up on the 4.2 FSI motors. They only have seen it happen on the V6s and RS4s. The cars threw codes right away and they were able to diagnose them properly.

They said Audi knew there was an issue, and doesn't have a solution on those cars yet. Pretty confident in this dealer as they were knowledgeable about other issues among B8 cars.

So 6 years later, does the original poster have the car still.. is the carbon buildup present?
