i every one just gone to my a5 2011 today to put the roof down and on the display its saying soft top cannot be used and got qaurter of the way through its process and froze can any one please give me any info

I just brought a 2011 A5 and put the top down several times. This evening I was moving slowly and was opening the top and noticed that it performed all except the last move of closing the cover????? Then for a time it gave the message that the soft top was not available.

Thankfully it does close completely.

I had the same issue on my 2010 S5. there is a sensor in the roof that tells the tops motor when to activate certain actions in the roof. it will be around $700 to fix. if your top gets stuck down and you need to put it up remember that you turn the car off and lift up on the top button for a couple seconds and it will relieve the pressure in the hydraulics lines and you can manually put it up by yourself. hope this helps..

Hi, I am wondering if you remember the name of the part? did you have Audi dealer diagnose your top to know what was the cause of not opening or closing???

I am having this same problem, do you have any more information on how you repair it? WHen I try to put the top up, it goes about half way and then it stops - like an actuator is not getting triggered to finish the rest of the process
