yep, I am test driving a 2014 S5 Cabrio today and noticed this just before I read this post. Definite delay. Must be on purpose is my guess.

On second thought, our brand new A5 2.0T does the same thing. I just never realized it took that long. Probably a good thing…don't rock the car out of snow drifts!

Not sure I follow the logic re rocking car out of snow. It is not possible with this slow transmission. I have done it many times with manual gearboxes. It is essential to be able to change gear rapidly at the top of the "rock" to build up momentum - a 2 second delay and you are practically stopped again at the bottom of the "hole"
