Tuning question - 2010 S5
Hi all, I am new to the Audi world and just purchased a used 2010 Audi S5 Prestige. I am wanting to have it running the best that it can and looking to get an APR ECU tune and cold air intake. My question is should I have the intake put on before the ECU tune? Does it matter in the order?
Thanks in advance,
Richard

i would get the tune and enjoy, then get to the intake when you can... just my $0.02.
i did the tune after i got an intake... then tune... then exhaust. the sound is one thing.... but the power gains were there regardless of bolt ons.
it's not like the subaru world where i used to come from where you would get a new OTS (off the shelf) tune or even dyno tune for each bolt on part you strapped on... these cars are very sophisticated in regards to adjusting on the fly...

Thank you for your response. The only vehicle that I had that I did mods for previously was a Mustang GT where I had various bolt-ons, tuned and dyno'd. Was about to do a supercharger and ended up selling it and going back to a Tundra... I know... big difference. I still have the Tundra and bought an older BMW 328xi, didn't do anything to it other than drive it, but then began looking into the Audi's and loved them. So... selling the BMW and went ahead and picked up the used S5. Sounds like the ECU tune is the way to go first and then if anything the intake.

Thank you! I got the tune from APR today, love the responsiveness. Intake next and will look into the coil packs and plugs. Ultimately, I want it to run the best as it can.

it will run, and pull timing, but not optimal. essentially APR tuning is minor boost changes, fueling, and then fudging timing for MORE POWER! if I understand it correctly.
did you get it with program switching? I have that on my A5 2.0T and it's kind of a luxury to switch between 91 and 93 if I was stuck somewhere with only 91 or 92...

glad to hear, enjoy it! also don't forget the car is not going to run well on lower octane gas than it's tuned for...

Hey, thanks for the response. I didn't get it with program switching but he did ask me what octane gas I ran, which I always use premium, which is usually 93. I did think however, after, what if I get stuck somewhere where I need gas and the don't have it. Guess I will put enough in till another station and baby it.

It's when you get a happy right foot and bad gas... bad things happen.
