Default Why would one rear wheel be 6mm closer to fender lip than the other?

Is this much variation acceptable ...or even common?

I want to add modest spacers but this much difference is really annoying — as one side will look like I want but not the other.

I measured a 5-6mm difference both before and after my most recent alignment.

Left rear is currently ~19mm from fender lip. Right rear is currently ~14mm from fender lip.

This was using the simple method:
1) Place a straight edge vertically on the face of the wheel and tire touching the tire in two spots
2) Measure from the inside of the straight edge to the inner fender lip

Previous:
L rear camber: -1°21'
R rear camber: -1°16'
L rear toe: 0°11'
R rear toe: 0°10'

Current:
L rear camber: -1°26'
R rear camber: -1°24'
L rear toe: 0°10'
R rear toe: 0°10'

Stock sport suspension. Running (brand new) 20x9 et29 on (brand new) 265/30R20.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

I couldn't guess what's common or the maximum allowed but I have a data point for you

my 2013 A5 was just aligned.
Left rear -1.32 degree camber
Right rear - 1.75 degree camber (yes, I'm a little annoyed with that being right at the upper limit)

doing your check I get a right side that is about 2 to 3 mm further from the fender.
center of my wheel to fender is 15 inches

I calculate that an added 0.43 degrees should be 2.8 mm further inboard.
calculation I used is sine(0.43) x 15 = 0.11 inches or 2.8 mm

So I figure my car would be equal both sides if they had made the camber the same and assuming the camber change pivots around the center of the wheel.
if the camber change is primarily the top going out or the bottom coming in, the difference left to right will still be a millimeter or 2 or 3
