Continental Extremecontact DWS, they are all season though. The reviews are pretty good.

I like my Dunlop Winter Sport 3D tires. They are great in the snow and slop - I run rings around all those silly 4-wheel drive SUVs with their low performance all season tires. Yet they handle quite well on dry pavement as well. One word of advice: consider buying a second set of wheels for the winter tires so that you can change them over yourself. This also gives you flexibility to go with a different (and less expensive) size - I go with 18" wheels for the winter and save my stock 19's for summer.

I'm debating between all season tires for the entire year or dedicated winter wheels and tires for winter. Does quattro perform better with winter tires as opposed to all seasons?

I bought a set of used stock 19" rims for my S5 to use as winter rims. I'm thinking of Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60s... 255/35R19's are about $275 a piece, and I spent $700 on the set of rims which were in nearly perfect condition and will keep the stock look of the car in the winter...

1. 19" Winter tires are a complete waste of money. ChipB is running 18", and some of us up in TO are running 17" RS4 replicas for winter.
2. All season tires are not winter tires. Full stop. I lived in Edmonton for 4 years - I don't know how you could even think of trying to run all seasons instead of dedicated snow tires!
3. Dedicated rims are always better - it saves on wear and tear on your "good" rims and, if you do run a smaller tire, you'll probably save enough money on tires alone to buy dedicated winter rims.
4. I am running the Nokian Hakkapeliitta's for my winter tires. They are the absolute best winter tires I have ever used. Quattro + winter tires = magic.
