Default Same thing happened to me

I have 2015 A4 and had the same exact problem happen to me over a month ago. We had a terrible rain storm that caused flooding in the area and I drive through some deep water. Audi told me I needed to replace the power steering rack because of water in it and to file with my insurance because it was “an outside force” causes the issue. They also drained the water when it was diagnosed so when the adjuster came out there was no sign of water. I filed with my insurance and they are saying water should not be able to penetrate through this area amd will not cover. Seems to me like an engineer malfunction but Audi is telling me they won’t cover either. This has been going on for a month and they have quoted me $3300 to replace. I am frustrated beyond belief. I would
kove to know how you handled?

I had the same thing happen to me this past weekend. Going to cost me $2500 to fix this issue. I'm in the states and just drove through some small puddles. Absolutely ridiculous!

I drove through some puddles last night caused by a 10minute down pour of rain on my 7mile route to work. My car is a 65 plate Audi s5 with only 12,700miles on the clock. I got 2miles down the road and red warning light came on dash saying not safe to drive and eventually power steering failed. My car is parked safely at work but undriveable. I'm out of warranty and have no clue how to move forward with this, cn anyone help please. Angus 07782305054

If you can determine where the water has gotten in, you can always try spraying the affected areas with WD-40. WD-40 was designed as "water displacement formula 40" so it's designed to displace water/moisture, and it's safe with electricity/electronics. Hopefully, your computer was smart enough to just shut everything off and nothing short-circuited. If that's the case, then once things are dry (or displaced with WD-40), it should work again. You may have to clear any error codes first.

Also, if there any plugs/ground points, check for oxidation/rust (brown if iron / green if copper). If there's oxidation, take apart the plug/unscrew the ground cable then spray some electronic contact cleaner to clean off the rust, then put some dielectric grease to prevent future oxidiation.

i have same problem. Noticed only occurred during moist or rainy days. Now now power steering at all. This is a universal problem and should be recall

Default Another?

2018 Audi A7, 8200 miles, lost steering in heavy rain? No warrantee, claiming water damage, deep water? I know the puddle was about 4-6 inches deep. Should be a safety recall in my opinion!

6" is a lot of water for an A5. Its not a Jeep CJ. How fast were you going through 6" of water?

Looks like ground clearance is only about 4.5"
