12v cigarette outlets always on

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knows how to enable the 12v cigarette outlet to be always on?

You can't. Are you trying to hook up a dash cam? If so, you might want to tap into the fuse box. There are plenty more options there.

I travel a fair bit & park my S5 for extended periods. I picked up a CTEK trickle charger & 12V adapter, but it's not charging.

I think you're supposed to connect that directly to the battery.

I wish it would stay on. It's really annoying hearing my V1 constantly restart when I come to a stop and start driving and start/stop kicks in.

no, i'm pretty sure the cigarette adapter is meant to be plugged into the cigarette outlet

I meant that you're not supposed to use the 12v adaptor with that.

really? why would the CTEK charger have a cigarette adapter for it then? seems odd/misleading.

It might be in the case that you can use it. However, I'm no expert on their system. I would contact their customer support I guess

That does not happen with mine. The cigarette lighter still provides power to my dashcam when the car auto shuts off.

Okay....
So let's go back to my original question & pretend my charger does what it's supposed to do. Does anyone know how to keep the keep the cigarette outlet live even after car is turned off?

i have a NOCO charger with cigarette adapter. I haven’t tried it in my Audi yet, but in my Volvo, it does not work in the center console, but the cigarette adapter in the cargo area works.

I assume you you have tried all of the adapters in the car?

Also on my NOCO the adapter when plugged in looks like it is all the way in, but isn’t.. just make sure to give a little nudge in case it isn’t making full contact... sorry I don’t have more for you..

That's going to be impossible unless you rewire it. Your best bet is to NOT use the cigarette outlet.

Per page 75 of the manual: "The sockets and the electrical accessories connected to them only function when the ignition is switched on."

Check out the v1 site. They have a little gizmo to prevent it from restarting on cars with auto start/stop

I have not tried this, and I don't know if there is any additional power switching between the cigarette outlet (socket) fuse and the socket itself. The theory being, take non accessory power in the fuse panel and jumper the power to the sockets. The jumper would have the fuse you removed for the socket inline with the jumper. I believe the fuse for the front socket is located in the panel to the left of the brake pedal.

Audi S5 12vdc factory outlet should not be re-wired for constant 12vdc power.

_____

I have a 2022 Audi S5, I have been a Systems Specialist for 20+ years. The cigarette12-VDC port in the front cab, does not have and cannot be configured for constant 12VDC power. You should not try to re-wire the factory outlet at the fuse box. I use a kit wired to the fuse box accessory/spare 15/20amp w/ constant12VDC. The kit has an inline fuse w/ usb-A, usb-C, and cigarette outlet that all supply constant 12VDC power. I paid $20 and it is worth it b/c the factory 12vdc port has heat shrinks and is permanently wired to the back of the fuse box grommet. Good Luck and Thanks.
