2018 Used Audi S5 SB w/ ~20k Miles?

Hello AudiWorld. Came across this forum and you guys seem very helpful and know a lot about cars.

Recently, a pre-owned '18 S5 SB with the options I wanted came up at an Audi dealership near my city. Some concerns are that the car is a pre-owned not CPO. Also has 20k miles on it. Price seems fair compared to kbb and other used S5 vehicles I came across.

For those of you that reached the 20k+ mile mark, are there any maintenance concerns? What are some things I should look for in a used Audi before purchasing?

Did some research and test drove the car but wanted to get some tips from owners. Thank you :)

There are certain criteria the car has to meet to get CPO. They can sell the car for le$$ without the CPO certification.
  • The car should have had two maintenance routines done.
  • The car will still have its factory warranty, you should verify there are no issues with that being transferred to you.
  • Review what warranty claims made to date.
  • Probably should verify the CARFAX is clean.
  • Are the tires OK?
  • How much additional cost to have CPO completed?

Not sure if you drive a German car now, but usually a brake flush is perform every 2 years, I would make sure that has been done. Beside that, it is the usually maintenance such as spark plugs and oil. As far as design or quality issues, I do not know of any.

The A5's 20K service is about $600. Depending if you are over/under 20k, you'll want to make sure it's been done or get it included.

Where did you get the prices of each service interval?

I had them print out the 20k,30k, 40k and 50k esitmates when I took mine in for the 10k service so I could compare the cost of AudiCare vs. paying separately.

I am assuming the 20k service for the S5 will be more than $600. Can anyone confrim?

strange that brake flush was not on the 20K list.

That car should be way cheaper than other S5's because of the mileage. You should have the balance of the factory warranty but I would get them to throw in an extended Audi warranty or CPO if you are planning on keeping it more than 3 more years. I would be hesitant to buy a 1 year old car with 20k because someone got rid of it after driving a lot of miles. I always wonder why. They took a big hit on value in one year so there had to be a reason for them to want to do that. I know there are a lot of reasons someone might do that but usually it's not a good reason for the next buyer. Carfax would be a must.

Ouch, $600 smackers for the 20k service? Makes me glad I decided at the last minute for the Audi Care package.

I'm at 23k miles after 1 year and 7 months of ownership. So I wouldn't say 20k is a lot of mileage, depends on when the car was originally purchased. My tires are nearing replacement and my brakes will likely need new pads by the end of the year.

I'll need to find my receipt from my 20k service, although I opted for Audi Care at the time to pay a reduced amount over the next service intervals.
