Anyone done this yet? Looking at Proxxes R888r for track days (285/30/20) and not sure if they’ll fit on that rim.

They will fit . I had 285/30/20 profile tires on my RS5 V-Spokes (20x9). Square profile, ran fine overall. I did read somewhere that since the manufacturers do not recommend a 285 width on a 9" rim you will be SOL re any warranty issues.

it will be for track days anyway but maybe not the best choice if there’s a risk.

I put 285s on the OE milled 20x9s. Better on a 9.5 or 10, but they fit for lower performance applications (ie, winter... which is what I did). I would want that on my summer setup. You'd be underwhelmed by the lack of precision for track work.
