a5 sb tire pressure
 

i have standard pirelli a/s 18s
inflation is set to numbers in drivers side door frame.

ride still seems a bit hard even in comfort.
new to audi so it might just be the audi ride.

has anyone inflated tires to other then recommended pressure to improve or soften the ride. if so what numbers did you go with.

Check your manual vs. door frame. In my 17 Q7 the door frame specs are for "max load" vs standard (3 person). In the manual it shows numbers for all.

In the case of the Q7, the fronts are same for max load and standard load but the rear is listed as 3 psi higher on door frame vs. the standard load listed in the manual. If this is the case with your SB, may help smooth out the ride a little.

Be careful going back to the manual. The label in the driver's door jam is the most up to date info available, while the manual may be out of date by comparison. The door jam label usually does only show inflations for MAX load, but if you compare those values to the MAX load values in the manual and they agree then you should be ok to use the lower pressures listed in the manual.

I have the 2018 a5 sportback the manual says 32 lbs front and back unless you are running loaded with stuff.
I have the same situation in my 2014 a7 they like to keep the pressure high because they say they wont get a flat spot when sitting on the lot.

mine says 42psi cold (19" summers)
sounds a bit high? manual says 38 i think

42 psi the maximum pressure.

I was surprised to see 42 as well but the manual is pretty clear: "The correct tire pressure for the tires installed at the factory is listed on a label ..." and it shows a picture of the label, and then "... if there are differences between this information and the tire pressures specified on the driver's side B-pillar, always follow the specification on the B-pillar label". Max pressure listed on the tires themselves is 50 psi.

oops should have mentioned ... this is for a S5 SB with the Hankook tires.
