Android Auto - Poor Resolution on MMI Screen, Other Questions

Is there a way to change the contrast on AA? I find during the way, it has a white background, and light grey roads (hard to see when driving). During the night, it's the inverse, and just as hard to see. I was looking to use AA for google traffic, but the traffic lines are super thin on the "washed out" roads.
I had bumped up the display to 1080p in the developer settings, but no change.

You might find that Waze has "thicker" roads and more contrast -- but it isn't as good in navigating you to new places.

Ok, just wondering. Last night I brought up AA on my phone, and it looked great. When I zoom out, traffic lines stay thick so you can see the phone city traffic. Not sure why everything turns hairline on the MMI. Need to play more.....

I find Waze is generally much better to see traffic conditions (and to get alerts) -- it's really what the app is optimized for. I have Waze navigate my commute, but I have navigation voice turn instructions turned off and have it tell me alerts only. Works great.
I only use Google Maps when I need to find / go to somewhere new, or I've looked something up on my computer and want to go there in my car.

Can you see Waze on the MMI, or is it just on the phone?

On the MMI! Just download and install Waze on your phone, set it up initially on the phone screen, then you will be able to change mapping apps in the same way you can change music apps (with the little "^" next to the icon)

Thanks for that! The ticket is you need to initiate a navigation on your phone. Once you do that, you get that little ^, and you can toggle between them. Really slick!

You do not need to start nav in Waze before plugging in.

Might have typed that wrong. I had logged into Waze, but nothing showed on the MMI (no carrot). Then I opened Waze and had it try to navigate somewhere, plugged it into the MMI, and I got prompted about allowing info from the phone. At that point the carrot appeared.
I never created a Waze account, so I don't know if it was the action of doing a navigation on Waze that completed the integration with Android Auto. Regardless, it works now, and I'll check it out!

You don't necessarily need to log into an account in Waze to get it to work on the phone. But if you want your imaginary internet points, you might =)
I think the point is once it's up and running on the phone, regardless of if it's associated with a specific account, it will work on the MMI.

Might have been half setup then. Regardless, works now, which is nice.
