Same here man, just got mine looked at at Audi San Diego. At 22k miles pads are darn near shot so they recommend new pads and rotors for S5. Though they didn't measure the rotor thickness so should verify but there are some visual signs of wear.

The shocker part, they quoted me $3,370 for that, insanity!!! Looks like I can get the OEM pads and rotors off ECS for about $800 and spend a Saturday myself in the garage, with OBDEleven rear parking brake is a non issue for me to dissengage.

Upgrades, so far possibly considering the ECS 2 piece rotors, not much for pads out there (especially the front) but 034 has their cobalt friction pads for a rather pricey $700 or so for front and rears. I did see a couple other options on S4 forums but nothing that really jumped out at me.

Yep, looks like I’ll be doing my own brakes. Yikes.

Thanks for the info. You need OBDII to disengage the parking brake?

From what I gather the easiest way to open disengage parking brake to change rear pads is with OBDEleven or other similar interface. You're not far from me so anytime you wanna borrow mine hit me up. Not a big deal though.

This guy touches on the topic first couple minutes of the video (not B9 but same applies).

Sorry, what? How can they justify that quote?

When I dropped the car off for the 22k service (Audi Care) I told the service advisor that I had just rotated the wheels and looked at the brakes at home. I suspected they were due soon based on a visual but it be great if they could measure. Assuming they would say I needed brakes I also told him that if they are low I am considering some performance rotors / pads to set the tone I'm not necessarily going to go with the dealer and am mechanically capable.

Anyways, when I picked up the car he said all went fine, rear pads at 3 mm and front at 4.5 mm, unfortunately didn't get rotor thickness measurements (I believe new they are 34 mm and min is 32 mm). Then he said should I chose to have the brakes done there when attached quote to my paperwork. I didn't look till I got home, no parts / labor breakdown but outrageous! I am perfectly comfortable doing brakes myself so about to order all the parts for a fraction of the price.

I feel like they're charging you about a $1,000 more than they should. Not sure.

Oh for sure, either way I don't even feel like going back and asking...just do it myself.

Try going to a different dealer first, or get a number from Pure MS. I get weird vibes from Audi SD every time I go in, and they were many thousands higher than others in the area on their car pricing.

Those prices are insane! Idk if you're interested, but I'm selling all 4 rotors off of my 2018 S5. Rotors from Audi are about 220 a corner. Looking to get rid of all 4 for 400. I went with a bbk about 3k miles into ownership. I live in LA.
