B9 S5 Strut Brace

That is probably true, but I installed a rear strut brace years ago on a Subaru Forester XT, and although it did take flex out of the chassis, it totally ruins the practicality of the trunk. That dumb thing was always in the way and eventually ended up taking it out for good. It might be ok on a sedan but it ruins a hatchback.
I had installed a shock tower brace in my Integra around 1997-8. It got in the way only when loading large objects, in the Integra rear shock tower came up nearly to the top of the rear seat backs. The brace did come in handy once, I hung my hanging plant baskets, I think 4, from it when making an interstate move.

In the sedan the structure for the rear window and the trunk lid acts like a brace.

This was not on my modification wish list. I wasn't going to dress up the engine bay that nobody is going to see but me and the mechanic..... and not convinced that this will make any difference what so ever....how is that for a sales pitch? But hey, I was browsing the ECS website and their billet strut brace was 61% off at $103 shipped. I'll have $100 bucks worth of fun just installing the thing! https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...019218ecs01~a/

Our A5 SB is not here yet but seeing that it comes stock with a strut brace, how is this one better?
Beefier? Because it attaches not only to the body but attaches the strut towers to each other?
Just asking.....

Beefier and that cross-brace attaches the shock towers laterally as you noted. As to how much stiffer it will make the front end, ???

I ordered one too.
Shipping to the UK was two thirds of the cost of the brace itself. Ouch!
But still, a great deal compared to anything I could find on sale here. I fitted a front brace to my V6 Golf quattro fifteen years ago and it was the best mod for the money I ever did. Not sure what it will do to my S5 Cabriolet as it already seems really stiff but it's not so expensive I can't just give it a try :-)
