CPO Audi A5 with low tire tread depth

Hi,

I am looking at buying a 2018 CPO Audi A5 from an Audi dealership. However the tire tread depth is just above the minimum requirements of 5/32. And the dealership is not ready to replace the tires.
What do you think I should do?

Perhaps you have already called their bluff and told them you would only buy the car if they replaced the tires. Failing that, if you feel you already have an excellent deal on a car that you really want, suck it up knowing you will have to outlay about $1,200 bucks for a new set of tires in the near term. You might also ask what kind of deal they will give you on a new set tires. I would not walk from a deal / package I want over as set of tires.

You probably would not want the OEM tires the dealer put on anyways. Ask the dealer for some discount due to the tires and go out and buy yourself a quality set of tires.

The negotiated price is good but that was before knowing about the low tire tread. Now he is not doing any further discounts beyond the negotiated price.

Walk.

Took me a month of negotiating. Make them understand you want tires. Good ones.

If they don't want the deal. See Ya!

If you think you are getting below market pricing, buy your own tires. I am not sure if this particular car's option is hard to find. I learned one thing from buying used cars, if you are looking for a car with hard to find options, when you find one, jump on it. If the car is nothing special, walk away and find another one.

Do you have the posting of the car?

Depends if the negotiated price is also taking into account the fact that the car will need new tires soon, best way would be to compare to similarly optioned cars in the market, but probably a little hard to do on an A5.

Yep....walk, but make sure they have your phone number ;)

Tell us about the car, and give us your location. You'll get much more informed advise.
