Default Dash Cam - Blackvue 900 is AWFUL!!!!

Former BV650 - 2 Channel owner.
Never had a SINGLE issue with this camera.

Decided late last year to upgrade to the BV 900 - with 4K.
Camera repeatedly overheats, even on a 80d day, and then shuts off.
Multiple SD cards tried, all specs, etc.
Support has been awful.
First blaming the 6 SD cards I used, from the same SD card out of the 650, to brand new cards with 4K support, etc.
Then once they got past that, they told me I should stop parking in the sun.
AYFKM? I live in Las Vegas - we don't have shade, except in our garages.

After months of threatening them they authorized my reseller to swap the camera.
No change in overheat issues, and 4 days into service, the WiFi module completely fails.
I've just ordered my 3rd replacement.
If this continues I'm just going to return the BV completely.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good replacement that comes close to the 900 2-ch spec?
Thinkware????

I live in Texas. The temperature right now easily touches 100 during the day right now.

Wow.
What SD card are you using and do you have WiFi turned on and active in parking mode?

The WiFi on the camera just failed, and interestingly enough, it's stopped overheating and shutting down even in 105+ d... in Vegas.

Sometimes you just get a lemon. However, I have found that dashcams are one of those devices that are most likely to fail. None of them are engineered for longevity. Even the big brand name ones.

My BV650 lived for 3 years without a single issue.
Even in Vegas heat....

I had a BV camera before that, as well - lasted a LONG time without issues, in 100+ heat.

This is my 2nd failure on a BV900.
My car is garaged 90%+ of the time.
First one: Damned camera was overheating outside even 80d heat...they suggested replacement at 6 months.
Second one: WiFi failed after 4 days, but no longer overheats.

I'm now awaiting my 3rd camera and will experiment with overheat issues with WiFi on/off to see if this has impact on the overheat issue.

Q) BV has repeatedly claimed that I need to park in the shade with cracked windows, because the 4k produces more heat on the processor.
A) I reduced the video to plain old 4k (versus the standard 4K Extreme) and the compression to H.264 (versus standard H.265), parked in shade, etc., no change in behavior.

Q) BV then claimed my SD card wasn't compliant which caused stress on the processor because it wasn't 4k certified (which it was).
A) They sent me the specs to ensure - so I bought ANOTHER card with even more extreme temp compliance AND higher performance - it still overheated the camera.

Q) BV has asked me to send them the video when the camera shuts down.
A) You don't get notifications the camera shuts down, you only get notifications that it MIGHT shut down. So - it's impossible to comply.

Q) BV has been notified that the WiFi on their recommended replacement within 4 days....
A) No response from BV for the last week.....

The overheat issues are widely known on the BV support forums and they're giving everyone the same BS.
Most people have opted to return their 900's and move to a different brand....

I'm trying to be patient and maybe find one that finally doesn't fail.
The tolerances in electronic components can actually vary - dependent upon uncontrollable circumstances during the manufacturing processes so I might get lucky....

All I'll say is that you got lucky friendo. I had the the same luck with a cheap Rexing dashcam that I used for 2 years with no issues. Good first time around and really bad for the second purchase. Seen good and bad reviews for all other brands.
