Didn't shift to 1st gear when stopped
Which was a first for me (pun intended).
My wife stepped out of the car to get the mail, so I was at a complete stop for a prolonged time. Just happened to look down and notice it was still in 2nd gear. Switched the shifter over to manual (which I had been using prior to heading down our street), and manual showed "M2". Switched back to D, and still showed D2. When I continued on to the house, the RPM's we along the lines of 2nd gear, so I'm ruling out that I was actually in 1st gear, but improperly displayed as 2nd gear.
Not concerned, or looking for any ideas from the braintrust community, but apparently it is possible to start from a prolonged stop in D2. Whether or not actual conditions were met and that was intended by the Audi programmers or not is up for debate. I'm guessing I'll never see that again, and therefore no worries.

I have noticed that it won't shift down to D1 if the road is sloping down.
Also: how are you getting an estimate of 440 miles on your car... mine says 340 miles when full.

Apparently many new transmissions do not shift to 1 on flat ground (or unless it is really needed) it saves on gas and makes for a smoother take off. Stop on an uphill it may shift to 1 or start at 2 and shift to 1.

Also I assume OP drives mostly highway as it shows an average of 45 mph.

Thats pretty interesting that it didn't shift, I drive in city type roads mostly and have my gear indicator on and have never seen it stick in 2 at a stop.
Interested to see if it was the hill that did it. I don't have many hills that you come to a stop on on my route

I think the S5 SB tank is 15.3 gallons, and I will often see 455 after a fill up. So my DTE calculation is assuming a generous 29.7 MPG. I'm guessing the algorithm probably uses the MPG average from your last 50 miles or so, and a lot of my fill ups are after a long trip - so I could see having a recent short-term average at or slightly above 30MPG. I'd never be able to average that high over the entire tank though, so the 455 is more of a 'you wish' than actual result.

Try putting the car in dynamic mode. With so many gears now a days, cars really don't need 8 or 10 gears so the bottom and top gears are sometimes hardly used.

I've had this issue for months. If you get it just right, it sort of slips into gear.
Dealer told me just last week it's definitely an issue because customers complain all the time. Until they start exploding, Audi ignores it.
It's at or near the top of my list of fails.
