The Audi factory warranty should be 4 years / 50,000 miles. You can always get an extended warranty as you get closer to the 50k mark. I purchased one from Troy, mentioned below for my Q5 At 49,925 miles. I’ve also purchased AudiCare for both my Q5 and A5 SB from him. Everything has been no tax and easy to work with. For me, the extended warranty was worth the piece of mind and helped justify saving several thousand dollars on buying another new car.

I just added myself a calendar reminder to revisit this topic 3 1/2 years from now.

I may be wrong, but doesn't the extended warranty start after the 4 year manufacturer's warranty ends? So the 7/100,000 is really 3/100,000?

Yep, but 7/100k appears to be more impressive.

The salesman stated that the price will be higher as time goes on. He didn't say by how much, and I'm sure it was a sales tactic...

Here are the figures for the extended warranty:
8 yr / 80,000 miles - $3,565
10 yr / 100,000 miles - $4,920

They also offered a wheel / tire warranty. If anything happens to a tire or wheel (crack, break or even curb scuff) they will replace it.

5 yr / unlimited miles - $1,195

Any thoughts? Are any of you paying for an extended warranty? If you don't mind, how much are you paying?

I work for a third party extended warranty company, whose name I will not mention. 😊
Here are some things to remember:
Car dealers have a well earned reputation for being opportunistic weasels. The warranty companies often get unfairly painted with the same brush. Generally, we are highly regulated and try hard not be be grouped in. The problems mostly lie with the car dealers grossly over-selling the warranties. Read your contract and know what you're buying before you agree to it. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. Not even the manufacturers have a bumper to bumper.

Know what you're buying and you'll be happy with your warranty.

if i wanted to cancel that warranty and stick with the original 4 year/48,000 mile warranty

how would i go about that?

This may differ by state, but in California this is an easy process that can be done at any time - but the refund will be pro-rated if you're in the extended warranty period. I've done this multiple times in the last twenty years as I change cars quickly, but typically buy extended warranties at POS from the dealer because I repeatedly delude myself that this time "I'll be keeping this car for awhile !". Simply go back to the selling dealer; ask to speak to an A&F person and fill out the requisite paperwork. Bring your original documents with you (you'll need the title transfer at least). You'll typically receive a refund check - from the dealer's account not the manufacturer within 2-3 months - depending on the dealer.

I am taking delivery of a q8 in about 50 days

my dealer, who I have used before, only offers Fidelity

i prefer to get an Audi ext warranty for 7y/100k max coverage level (Plat?)

does se anyone have a dealer that can offer a discount

I don’t think it makes any difference, but I’m in Nor Cal

thanks

I believe Fidelity is the administrator for the Audi extended warranty. Try Troy at FD-warranty.com. he is usually a bot cheaper.

I believe the warranties quoted begin after Audi's warranty expires, so in reality these are 4 year/30K and 6 year/50K warranties. As mentioned by others, read the fine print closely, especially exclusions (maintenance items are rarely covered) and deductibles.
I scuffed a rim this summer and the repair cost was $100. Unless you really hit something hard a rim won't crack or break. If it does your insurance will probably cover it as you've done much more than damage a rim (think body shop repairs).
I would self-insure - save $100 a month for the 48 months your Audi is under warranty. By then you've got $4,800 to fund any issues outside the warranty and if you don't use it you don't lose it!

Interesting. Thank you for the info and contact

Do you know if fidelity is in any way inferior/superior to the Audi warranty, even if both are administered by Fidelity ?
