Default S5 Sportback- was foot opening an option or standard?

Just learning my car. How can I tell if it has the foot opening feature for hatchback? It is early 2018 Premium Plus with everything except driver assistance option..

You mean it's not working when the car is locked and you stand behind with the fob and you put and remove your foot under the middle of the bumper quickly?

Thanks. Simple answer. works like a charm up and down. I hadn't realized car has to be locked. Is that a changeable setting, or only works with locked car?

Should work any time. You can also swipe the foot to close, and you get a small beep as it starts to close when you use your foot.

No, it doesn't work when the car has been unlocked, in some circumstances. I believe it's to prevent someone opening it while you're stopped or something. There's some rule around this. Keeping that in mind it works almost flawlessly for me.

more learning curve I guess. Found that the car does not need to be locked, just needs the right foot movement

Thanks to all. This feels really funny to be the newbie asking first timer questions instead of being the old hand with BMW and Porsche questions, but it a good reminder just how helpful these chat groups are.

It works when the car is unlocked too. Your keys have to be within proximity so not just anyone could open it by activating it with their foot.

'20 manual says ignition must be off for the foot swipe, and you have the key with you. For the door button the car has to be in Park.

There you go, maybe I have the ignition on sometimes when it doesn't work.
