Audi does have quite the snafu if it goes away, this same virtual cockpit system is in nearly every audi sold above base model A/Q 3's and 4's
watching doug demuros 2017 R8 video and its got the same system from our car.

Automakers need to rethink the way they look at navigation system software. I get that it is a big money maker for them, but it comes with a lot of customer complaints and isn't easily upgradeable. In my mind Audi should be looking at a better way to integrate Android Auto and Apple Car Play into the virtual cockpit. Everyone has a smartphone with these programs that get updated 1-2x a month. Additionally almost everyone replaces their smart phone every 2-3 years. Let Apple and Andriod deal with the navigation software while Audi can just focus on how it is presented.

One more reason to not pay for the AudiConnect service (unless they discount it heavily for pre-MY2019 cars) now that my trial period is up. As it is, they expect us to pay significantly more with these new cars than previous models (or simply adding it to an existing data share plan).
This is one of the few sore points I have with Audi right now.

... and I also just sent Audi a nasty-gram.
... and I also cancelled AudiConnect on my wife's Q3, while significantly cheaper ($10/month), loses its primary feature since traffic is still handled through the sat radio.
Oh well.
