Default Half-assed front trim molding - S5s

It’s probably been posted before, but has anyone else noted the half-assed trim molding on the front (driver’s side) of the S5? I was approaching the car from the front and at first thought I’d lost/broken a piece of the front trim. It looks like half of it’s shorn away but evidently it’s “by design” as I’ve checked other S5s. As we know, the B9 has different fascias, depending on the variant but evidently Audi intentionally let a sizable trim gap only on the S5s. I assume there’s a functional reason for it but it’s a poor look, especially when you peer in the gap and you see a hole for a trim fastener.

This is the passenger side with a full trim piece.

This is the driver’s side, with the half-trim piece.

Looks like the left side needed more vents while the right side could make do with fake vents.

I noticed the same while installing my black optik grilles. It has to be like that for a reason, just don't know why.

Honestly never noticed. Not even while washing the car. I think I'm getting to old to stoop down and look there.

...for those who aren’t following what we’re going on about...actually I’m referring to the space indicated by the yellow arrow...not the red circle. If you check it for yourself, you’ll find it looks very “unfinished”.

Looks like a vent. Clearly there is a radiator over there.

Obviously there’s a reason for that “vent”,it’s certainly not an oversight...
