would you ever consider doing a step by step write up? Or even installing it for someone?

How badly do you guys really need this? I'm in Canada in the dead of winter and I still ordered a non-heated flat-bottom over a round heated one. You have your gloves on when it's really cold anyway, and once the car is warm the wheel warms up pretty quickly just from you holding it.

My wife was moving from a BMW 5 series with a lovely heated steering wheel to a car that we couldn't even spec with a heated steering wheel, even if we wanted. The heated wheel is not offered in the UK as an option. She almost walked away from the deal until I told her, I think I have this figured out. So the pressure was definitely on. I just wish I had specced the car with the flat wheel from the factory. Then selling it on its own new would have covered the cost of my retrofitted heated wheel.

I MUST have a heated steering wheel. Don't judge me for that. For the record, as the OP, I bought one with it. I'm not as handy as Bruce.

Surprisingly, I have really liked the heated steering wheel, but it’s only now made me wish the shifter was also heated. I guess it’s one way Audi tries to make you keep your hands on the wheel at 10 and 2.

In fact, they should make sure 9 and 3 is kept too cold for those people who keep insisting on holding it wrong, and also 11-1 should be scolding hot for obvious reasons.

9 & 3 is the new recommendation to avoid injury from airbags: https://driving-tests.org/beginner-d...teering-wheel/. I do find that the bulges at 10 & 2 are a little cooler than the rest of the wheel, so they are kinda doing what you say, just with the locations flipped.

I actually had it reversed in my mind, 9 and 3 is correct (you stick your thumbs in the notches). Don’t get me started on the correct way of turning the wheel when making a turn.
