I've had the pleasure of owning the BMW and Mercedes counterparts to the S5 and both come with run flat tires. Audi is the only one out of the Germans to not offer run flat tires. Do you prefer them? The latest run flat tires aren't as bad as the original ones but I'm very happy that run flats don't come on this car. I don't mind having a spare in the trunk.

The only people who needs run flats are criminals trying to run away from cops.

I hated my run flats on my 2009 BMW 528 when I got it and first tire change went to Pilot Super Sports since it had a spare, not having run flats actually went into my car selection criteria this time with my S5.

Run flat spare was a negative comparing BMW with Audi. I too went with S5 (2018 prestige coupe)

S4 here, but very glad. Run flats are heavier, more expensive, and they have a tendancy to bubble the sidewall (an irreparable failure) when you hit a pothole wrong which means guess what you're getting a tow anyway.

Hard pass on that technology.

S4 here as well, but avoiding run flats definitely factored into my decision to get the Audi over some of the other options.

The second and third gen runflats have gotten better but they are not the best.

I greatly prefer the space saver spare and normal tires to run flats. I consider this a significant advantage for Audi.

I usually try to avoid runflat tires whenever possible, if the S5 came with runflat, I might have bought the Mercedes C43 AMG instead.
