Issue with Start/Stop de-activation

I would like to disable the Start/Stop "feature" using VCDS but I remember reading people having some strange side-effects.

Anyone know what those side-effect could be?

Also, what is best? Recoding the AC Comfort Parameters or the Battery Level Requirement?

I used odbeleven and I have not seen any side effects.

Just for my own education what is the benefit to disabling this feature?

It disables the Automatic Start Stop feature which some members (Like Me) really find obnoxious and "nanny state" like. In my case I have "trained" my finger that as soon as it presses the "Start / Stop" button -- it goes to the "disable the ASS button.

I have not done anything to mine but I'm tempted. if you're in a lot of city traffic, it can get annoying as the system is too unpredictable. They most annoying bit is if you brake to a stop and relax you foot pressure a bit, it starts again. It also could use a bit of delay before kicking in so it doesn't activate at every stop sign (a 1-2 sec delay would be good). The system is just not ready for primetime in my opinion.

Seems to be what you are conditioned to.

The idea behind the AutoStop is to reduce emissions when vehicles are stopped at traffic lights etc. In cities this make a lot of sense once you think about how many engines are idling at stop lights at any given second.

Having lived in Germany for several years recently, I just got used to it and I don't give it a moment's thought. Almost every vehicle there turns off at traffic lights and the air quality is better for it.

Just FYI for OP and folks on this thread: Per the manual, the system will not switch off the engine unless sufficient brake pressure has been applied beyond the pressure required to hold the vehicle at a standstill. For example, in my normal driving, the system never switches off the engine at a stop unless I choose to depress the brake pedal hard with the intention of having the engine switched off temporarily. So, more attention to brake pressure will allow you to avoid manually disabling Auto Start/Stop during normal driving. Try it out!

It's the only thing that I hate about this car. In my experience it will typically shut down the car before it is fully stopped. Terribly clunky and even a little unsafe. I've driven VWAG implementations of auto-stop-start that are 5+ years older that worked just fine, so I don't understand how Audi messed this one up so badly.

Folks who have used obdeleven to code this out, is this the product I need?
And can anybody recommend a cheapo Android device to run it on? iOS only guy over here.

That is the correct device though it looks like you can buy it directly from their website for about $15 cheaper. ( https://obdeleven.com )
- You need to device and the Pro license. (Well, you might not need to Pro license if you just want to pay credits for mods in the store, assuming the mod you want to apply is in their store)

On a side note. They have been teasing a new version of their device that will support iOS ( https://obdeleven.com/nextgen/ ) . Pre-orders open May 3rd.
- It looks like the software of iOS will be beta out the gate and doesn't look like it will have manually coding yet. (FYI)

Does the S5 not have an S mode on the gear selection? I always drive in S mode in my A5 . No stop/start.
