Purchased a set of 18” Audi stock wheels and A/S tires as I wasn’t crazy about driving on the 19” Cavos with summer tires in any kind of winter weather like they are predicting. Wheels and tires showed up Thursday — and they were very clean and in outstanding shape - so today was scrub clean and ceramic coat them before installing them.
I had no idea just how much of a difference the Cavos made on the Daytona Gray. IMHO — This picture says it all:
Cavo on the rear / Stock 18 on the front.
Winter weather supposed to hit tonight — I’m somewhat prepared!
(Note: All 4 Wheels / Tires we’re swapped. This was just a comparison shot)

Every option I was able to get. The only thing I didn't get is the flat bottom wheel but it was either that or heated wheel, so heated wheel > flat bottom wheel. I also wanted the cooled seats but then I wouldn't be able to get the read sports seat and well, red is sexy.

The 19 inch Cavos come fitted with performance summer tires. These tires are not suited for ice/snow nor colder temperatures. The stock 18’s come fitted with all season tires. They are designed to handle the snow/cold temperatures better. And yes, 18 inch wheel/tires are generally less expensive.

Sidewall height as well as the 18” tires have a slightly reduced width footprint which is better for driving through and on snow.
In South Jersey we don’t usually see snow storms with deep snows, but as NJS5 said, summer tires are not recommended for temps below the low 40°s as the rubber doesn’t have the flexibility of a Snow or All Season Tire and very little “stick” for traction.

Been lurking for while but figure I finally join and get in on the convos. Just wanted to say everyone here has some AMAZING looking vehicles! This thread and forum partly convinced me to pull the trigger on a 2019 S5SB which I will take delivery of in 8 days (and counting) and you can bet pics will be coming! This forum in general has been so helpful in answering a lot of my questions prior to taking a step in a dealership and I hope I can contribute as well in the future.
