Planning an S5.... 2019 or 2020?
Planning to get an S5, lot of good discounts on 2019 with COVID 19, should I consider 2019 or go for 2020? I really like driver information graphics on the new one and like the honey comb grill! Grill can be added afterwards, so no big deal! Any other key differences? What you guys suggest?
Thanks |
If you can deal with a totally touchscreen control — and price isn’t much of a consideration — go for the 2020. However if you are not a fan of a 100% touchscreen, stick with the 2019.
There will be a lot of members weighing in, so be prepared. — John |
Thanks John - I really don’t mind the touch screen and that is not a decision factor. I also heard there is a slightly improved power 2021 coming too! Clicking all links and watching all videos in YouTube, looking forward to hearing the opinions!

For me - I'd take the 2019 unless I was damn sure I could use the touchscreen from the driver's seat. Feels like it would be quite the reach, and the MMI knob is convenient and user friendly.
The 2020 is a stopgap until the B10 platform arrives which will have the same dual touchscreens as the C and D platform cars have now. If I wanted touchscreens I'd be tempted to wait for that... |
I hate fingerprints and the new tach - so 2019 for me

Do you spend much time around black pianos? If you can deal with how fussy they are to maintain, you will probably enjoy the '20 S5!

Just moved from a 2013 S5 cab to 2019 S5 cab. Neither has touch screen so no big deal. Didn’t consider 2020 as the deals on 2019 were too good to pass up. Got 20% off msrp and 0% for 6yrs. That’s the only reason I parted with my beloved 2013. New car is better in almost every way as it’s a more refined GT.

What do you mean by driver info graphics? I'm not aware of any differences between 19 and 20 on that. The main difference is jog wheel vs touch screen on MMI. Go try both, I have my preference.
