Default Press the start button and nothing happens

2018 S5SB 22k On two occasion over the past 3 months I have pressed the start button and nothing happened. It sounded similar to a dead battery or a starter motor failure. This last time I got out of the car and open and closed all the doors and the trunk, got back in the car and it fired up. Can't say there is a cause and effect but it started. Will be scheduling a dealer visit soon. Anyone else have this experience? Suggestions? Thanks!

Are you sure you had the brake pedal pressed?

With 22k miles I've started the car many times. I'm confident that the brake pedal is not the issue

Were keys, cell phone, or other metal/electronic objects in the same pocket as your key fob? Sometimes these things can block the signal from the key fob so that nothing happens!

Ditto. Especially when unlocking the car by putting my hand inside the door handle.

Great question. I am a man with routine behavior, key always in front right pocket with nothing else in that pocket, cell phone in the center console etc.. When it happened I took the key out of my pocket and placed it in the key fob holder in the center console That didn't seem to change things. As you can imagine it was frustrating. These cars have their fair share of quirks. Maybe this is another one.

Yes I've had this happen, once just the other day. The key is detected, its not that. The brake pedal is properly pressed and the car doesnt start.

Honestly never thought much of it, car always starts the next time.
