most offers i'm getting are around $800-1200 under MSRP, but one was $52,489 ($4,411 under MSRP). That's got to be a mistake, right?
Might be right. I was able to get about $3400 off my S5 Sportback MSRP but is def a good deal you should jump on if you are set on buying the Sportback.

My dealer salesperson claimed that invoice was ~6% lower than MSRP, and used that to calculate my final price ($1000 over invoice). Not that I believe for a second that the dealer is paying 'invoice' price for any car they have.

So that Edmunds' quote is close.

That's a savvy way of going about it.

These vehicles are in decent demand though, so not sure how much you'll be able to chip away. Best of luck, of course. (I'd have been very happy at invoice or just a tad over, which is where you are).

My salesperson was willing to go $500 over invoice for his existing inventory, but I ended up ordering spec. I was not an aggressive negotiator though, so maybe with more patience and multiple visits, it probably could have dropped more.

(The $1000 over invoice is what he stated the Costco referral discount was).

I would be curious if anyone just gets a prestige in a non black/white color and no additional options.

How much did you pay and if you financed what is the best interest rate out there?

That sounds like a great deal at ~7+% under MSRP. What specs?

Even without further negotiations, I see online prices at approximately 6%. For example, Audi Owings Mills in MD listed A5 sportback deals - MSRP:$52,150, on line for sale Price:$49,143 / MSRP:$52,500 online sale price:$49,493.

Probably I would set a goal to negotiate discount above 6% and wait for favorable Audi incentives to reduce purchase price further. My understanding Audi do have loyalty incentives or new buyer incentives worth in the range of $500-$1000.

As I initially inquired at the local audi dealers, I was given 2-4% dis****, then after light negotiation I got 5.5%-6.8%.

Discount and purchase price aside, more importantly, I do want to note, that it is my first inquiry into Audi brand (owned mercedes, lexus and bmw cars for many years), and I am offset by the poor customer service at local Audi dealers I visited thus far. Specifically, lack of sales people on the floor at the dealership, I walked into two dealership and wondered around for good 10-15 minutes before someone asked if I need help. Lack of technical knowledge about Audi cars by some sales staff, I test drove A5 last week, and sales person had no idea where battery in the car is located, could not provide accurate info on the scheduled maintenance frequency. Also, lack of follow up with the customer after test drive. Getting a quote is a lengthy process for some dealers, or no quote provided at all. All above makes me think do I really want to buy Audi in the first place?

In comparison, I visited local Mercedes, BMW and Porsche dealerships for a test drive and inquire about few models. There is a huge difference in customer service in favor of Mercedes/Porsche/BMW vs Audi.
I don't think your customer service experience is "Audi" related vs "other brand". My local dealership has been FAR more fantastic to deal with in terms of immediate responsiveness, communication, dealings etc than has my local Mercedes or BMW dealer. I actually left my Mercedes dealer after waiting 30 min to see someone and never went back.

I expect it is poor management of the local Audi dealer. Find another.
