Rotor color
First world problem here... I didn't take the red calipers and I'm really disappointed how the black ones on the S5 get unnoticed. I had black caliper on my SQ5 and they were very apparent. Just not flashy. Now, I'm wondering if the color of the rotor hat could make the difference? They were gray on the SQ5 and black on the S5. Since I wanted to paint the hat before they start to rust, maybe I should spay them gray instead.
I know the lightning in the pictures are different and all but those pictures reflect really well how the black callipers on my S5 get really unnoticed compared to my SQ5.

I really like the grey look with my Daytona Grey. What part did you say will rust? I just wish the S logo was on the back ones too.

I prefer to have the wheels stay dark if possible. Just a personal thing of course.... My order does not have red calipers.

I think the difference you are noticing is due to the wheel design. Your SQ5 wheels are much more open. At least in the picture, you can see much more light reflecting off of the rotor, hence the black caliber being more noticeable.

the rears used to have the S logo but they switched to plain calipers w/o the S cover on later cars. I saw some coupes and cabs with them but not many SBs.

Most rotors have zinc coated surfaces other than the ones that are the friction surfaces for the brakes. I doubt the hat will rust, although it may discolor/blemish slightly over time.
You can buy rotors with black hats when you replace the ones you've got. They only last 30-40k miles so I wouldn't go to too much trouble to paint them unless you are very low miles.
